Check out the Approx Banks playlist included from 10th of July 2022 in the GAZZARA PLAYS GENESIS YouTube channel. Here youāll find Francesco Gazzaraās personal reinterpretation of various Tony Banksā keyboard performances during Genesis live tours between 1971 and 1977 (1980 in one case). This is also a close approximation of the sounds and instruments originally used, due mainly to practical stage reasons. All sounds/presets keys changes are listed in the video when occurring. The backing tracks are usually a mix between the original studio or live stems (mainly drums and bass due to copyright reasons) while the keyboards audio performance is tracked live (including the odd bump notes) directly from the cameras microphones (therefore the “ambience” audio quality). The filming is done with two Canon 1200D cameras (side) and one iPhone camera (ceiling). For an original reinterpretation of the songs (for grand piano, chamber orchestra and other acoustic instruments) please visit http://www.gazzaraplaysgenesis.com. Hereās the sleeve of GAZZARAās new album Progression, out June 14th 2022. Time seems right for a deep prog rock record (inspired by Genesis, Yes, King Crimson Ā Gentle Giant, ELP, Anthony Phillips, Mike Oldfieldā¦.) with many other influences ranging from classical, folk and soundtrack music. The album has been inspired by Britainās oldest road map (Gough Map, c.1360), an almost forgotten pilgrimage similar to the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Progression indicates the process of developing or moving gradually towards a more advanced state: after a choral introduction (“Misericordiaeā) the following eleven tracks are named after some of the locations of the ancient route (“Old Way“) that runs between Southampton and Canterbury in the South of England. Written and recorded during the lastĀ pandemic years (2020-2021), GAZZARAās new album features seven passionate musicians playing a total of 22 different instruments. Progression will be released on IRMA Records as a limited edition CD available exclusively on the artistās website and bandcamp page. Can the stem of a plant blooming only once in a lifetime at 3400mt of height be used to build rope bridges, houses roofs and to make statues that become incredible works of art? Yes, if we’re talking about the Maguey, the American agave plant growing in the north of Peru‘s Cordillera Blanca, between the breathtaking Andean roads and the rural villages of mud and straw, far away from Lima. All this and more is included in the documentary L ‘Arte Del Maguey (SD Cinematografica) by Luigi Cammarota featured friday 26th march on Italian national channel RAI3 (TV broadcast: Geo). “Talent and high craftsmanship in a musical area always subject of fertile and constant manipulations”. So Alessandro Berni ends his nice review ofĀ The Bossa Lounge Sessions (Gazzara, 2020 IRMA Records) on the Italian web portal Il Sussidiario.net. Click on the picture to read the complete review:

Francesco Gazzara‘s soundtrack makes an extensive use of tensions and musical thrilling solutions but also communicate the protagonists individual burden with intimate and warm melodies. The score opens with a typical cornet and strings mafia theme in the style of Morricone and Rota, then follows an original path through tribal rhythms, crescendos and touching female vocalising improvisations.

Latest Francesco Gazzara‘s TV and cinema score is now released as a high resolution audio digital format: Tre Volte Gerusalemme (Original Soundtrack). It is downloadable exclusively here: http://francescogazzara.bandcamp.com/album/tre-volte-gerusalemme-original-soundtrack
Tre Volte Gerusalemme (Three Times Jerusalem) is a journey into three dimensions – space, time and spirituality – of a city disputed by Christians, Jews and Muslims. A place where everything is true and untrue at the same time, where facts happened for sure but never in an commonly acknowledged site or date. Journalist Franco Scaglia travels to Jerusalem together with authors Wlodek Goldkorn and Gabriele Tecchiato in search of an ideal: a small celestial city that each one of us – atheists, seculars or any religion churchgoers – carries inside himself as an human being. As explains director Simone Aleandri, “this documentary is not about a celebration but, underlining the historical moment we live in, it explores the connections between the three Abrahamic religions, in the same place where everything began 5.000 years ago and where everything still goes on”. Francesco Gazzara‘s soundtrack is highly influenced by the spirituality of such historical sites and many compositions titles reflect this. Ethnic instruments and vocals are merged with an overall epic and dramatic score, where the inputs of the three different religions are exploited in a musical meaning. This high resolution audio release also includes six unreleased compositions originally not included in the documentary’s soundtrack. The film was produced by Digital Studio & DVD with Rai Cinema and premiered on Italian national RAI UNO channel in 2014.

One more Francesco Gazzara‘s TV and cinema score is finally released as a high resolution audio digital format: Mater Matera (Original Soundtrack).Ā Ā It is downloadable exclusively here: http://francescogazzara.bandcamp.com/album/mater-matera-original-soundtrack
Francesco Gazzaraās soundtrack is suitably close to the bucolic atmospheres of the landscape, rather sparse and acoustic. Only a few instruments ā especially plucked strings and rural horns ā together with appropriately sound designed effects describe the simplicity of a magic ancient place suddenly turned into a global attraction.
