On Friday 26th 2025 a new tribute album is released by GAZZARA plays GENESIS on IRMA Records. Double CD The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway is available as a Limited Edition on the artist Bandcamp page: http://francescogazzara.bandcamp.com/music
Gazzara plays Genesis successful piano-orchestral tributes Play Me My Song (2013), Here It Comes Again (2020), Foxtrot (2022) and Selling England By The Pound (2023) were appreciated by original Genesis members such as Anthony Phillips and Steve Hackett. Now keyboardist and composer Francesco Gazzara is back with an absolute masterpiece of the legendary band: a double CD tribute to The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, released by the IRMA Records label as a Limited Edition CD almost 51 years after the original release of the eponymous Genesis concept album.
The ‘Story of Rael’, as introduced by Peter Gabriel during the Lamb Tour in 1974-75, is both a turning point in Genesis discography and a masterpiece of 20th Century music. Prog, rock opera or a pre-punk record, perhaps all three at once: the impressive music of The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway brings together many lyrical references – The Pilgrim’s Progress, Alejandro Jodorowsky, West Side Story, Carl Jung – creating a wall of sound comparable to a symphonic soundtrack from another era.
The double concept album is arranged in the style of the previous Gazzara plays Genesis records: a focus on the exclusively instrumental part of the masterpiece, looking for ingenious details sometimes hidden in the original, enhancing above all its cinematic component. The Lamb begins as a dream, turns into a nightmare and ends with an attempt at redemption: the ideal path to let oneself be carried away by the piano/orchestral transcription of the magnificent music written by Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett and Mike Rutherford. Perhaps by imagining, remembering or re-reading the brilliant original verses of the songs that make up the work.
The first 150 copies of Gazzara plays Genesis: The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway in Limited Edition are available only on the artist’s Bandcamp page: http://francescogazzara.bandcamp.com/music

December 6th 2024 latest GAZZARA‘s album I Won’t Let You Down has been released by IRMA Records. I Won’t Let You Down is an album entirely dedicated to GAZZARA‘s collaboration with Dutch soul/pop singer Youssef Dinar. Five original tracks (plus three alternative mixes) produced and partly released recently as digital singles, including a brand new one that gives the album its title: I Won’t Let You Down. Introduced only by GAZZARA‘s unmistakable Rhodes electric piano and Dinar’s intimate, passionate vocals, the song unfolds in a soft yacht rock arrangement full of Hammond, Vocoder, warm 70s synthesizers, vibraphone, drum machine and elaborate backing vocals, featuring GAZZARA’s founding members Massimo Sanna on bass and Mauro Mirti on drums/percussion. The album continues with the Memphis-style torch song No Tears Left, the Motown soul of Reach Out – guest saxophonist Dario Cecchini of Funk Off -, the acoustic, radio-friendly pop of This Is Your Life, and the more recent The Struggle, a nocturnal, urban shuffle ballad, performed with intense soulful depth by Youssef Dinar.

Here’s the sleeve of Gazzara plays Genesis: Selling England By The Pound, Francesco Gazzara‘s latest (piano/orchestral) tribute album released as a Limited Edition CD on October 13, 2023, exactly 50 years after the original Genesis masterpiece. First 100 copies will be available from September 22 exclusively on the artist Bandcamp page, where they can be ordered (signed on request) directly here https://francescogazzara.bandcamp.com. Thanks to Diego Damiani for his modern art rework of the original sleeve and to Ugo Micheli for his drawings inspired to some of the album’s characters.

Following the success of earlier tribute works Play Me My Song (2103), Here It Comes Again (2020) and Foxtrot (2022) – with appreciation by some former members of Genesis as Steve Hackett and Anthony Phillips – keyboardist and composer Francesco Gazzara returns to the prog rock repertoire of the legendary english band with a new full album reinterpretation. Selling England By The Pound (released by IRMA Records on October 13, 2023) features some tracks already included in both Gazzara Plays Genesis tribute albums – as Dancing With The Moonlit Knight, I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe), Firth Of Fifth – but also adds brand new acoustic versions of The Battle Of Epping Forest, More Fool Me and Aisle Of Plenty arranged for piano, rhodes, hammond organ, mellotron and ARP Pro-Soloist synthesizer.
October 13, 1973, legendary rock band Genesis released their masterpiece Selling England By The Pound. Fifty years later the heritage of this album on modern music is still enormous and this instrumental piano/orchestral version is only a humble tribute to such beautiful music written by Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett and Mike Rutherford. Thank you Genesis!
